Haulage firms blame government after Brexit warning of 7,000 lorry queues in Kent

BBC, 24 Sep 2020
The road haulage industry has reacted angrily to a warning from the government that there could be queues of 7,000 lorries in Kent, if companies fail to prepare for customs changes at the end of the Brexit transition period.

Hauliers have accused ministers of trying to shift blame for the possible impact, if no trade deal is agreed with the EU.

Cabinet Office Minister Michael Gove told parliament that lorries arriving in Kent would need to be in possession of the correct access permit, or face a fine.
