Hong Kong's Legislative Council election has wrapped up over the weekend. With 90 members, a new LegCo under the principle of "patriots governing Hong Kong” has been formed. This is the first election under the new electoral system. China has also issued a white paper on Hong Kong, saying the principle of “one country, two systems” provides the fundamental guarantee for the exercise of democracy in the city. On that, Tian Wei spoke with Rita Fan Hsu Lai-tai, the first president of the Hong Kong SAR Legislative Council from 1998 to 2008.
