Huge iceberg breaks off from Antarctica

Guardian, 01 Mar 2021
Aerial video released on 26 February showed a huge iceberg broke off from the Brunt Ice Shelf in Antarctica, almost 10 years after scientists discovered the first cracks. The berg was compared in size to the English county of Bedfordshire, measuring to cover 1,270 square kilometres, according to the British Antarctic Survey (BAS). Scientists were expecting the calving of the iceberg to happen, after monitoring the area with GPS instruments and satellite imagery on a daily basis, BAS Director Professor Dame Jane Francis said.
