In full: Nicola Sturgeon announces that schools in Scotland will reopen after February half-term

Telegraph, 02 Feb 2021
Schools will reopen in Scotland after the country made "progress" against coronavirus, Nicola Sturgeon has said.

While the lockdown will continue in Scotland until at least the end of February, the First Minister has committed to getting pupils back into the classroom.

Updating MSPs in Holyrood on Tuesday, the First Minister said progress had been made in the fight against the virus as a result of compliance with lockdown restrictions.

She said that while it will mean adults must live with lockdown measures for longer than planned, children will begin to return to schools from Feb 22.

From the Feb 22, following the midterm break, there will be a phased return to school, she says - though these plans are subject to approval in two weeks time, depending on coronavirus data.
