In Nigeria, an agonising wait for parents of 300 abducted girls

Al Jazeera, 01 Mar 2021
Families in northwest Nigeria’s Zamfara state are desperately waiting for news of more than 300 schoolgirls who were taken by gunmen from a government school on Friday, the latest in a series of mass school abductions to hit the country.
Some parents say their daughters are not going back to school, that the government has failed them - some want to continue their education but say they would not board at school.
There have been at least six mass kidnappings in schools in northern Nigeria - two this February. The attacks are happening in a region with the lowest levels of school enrolment and retention - sparking fears that the region may fall farther behind the rest of the country.

Al Jazeera’s Ahmed Idris reports from Jangebe, Nigeria.
