India’s Supreme Court stays implementation of new farm laws
Al Jazeera, 12 Jan 2021
India's Supreme Court has paused the implementation of three controversial new agricultural laws.
Farmers have been blocking roads and protesting around the capital since November.
They say the new laws will undercut prices and allow a few corporates to control the agricultural sector.
According to local reports, judges are disappointed with the government’s handling of the weeks-long standoff and fear it could lead to bloodshed.
