Lack of racial diversity in medical textbooks could put BIPOC patients at risk

The Black Lives Matter movement against racial inequality has forced a reckoning in different fields like sports, media and politics. As Aalia Adam explains, there is a clear absence of dark skin in medical literature. Many health professionals say ignoring the different ways symptoms present themselves on dark skin compared to light skin can lead to misdiagnosing and in some cases can be deadly.
