Sayram Lake is located in northern Tianshan Mountains in Bortala Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The lake has an altitude of 2,071 meters, a length of 30 kilometers from east to west, and a width of 25 kilometers from north to south. Sayram Lake covers an area of 453 square kilometers and contains 21 billion cubic meters of water.
