The Qiantang River is located in east China's Zhejiang Province. It has a trumpet-shaped mouth, which is one of the causes of gigantic tides. Each year around August 18 on the Chinese lunar calendar, when the gravitational pull from the Sun and the Moon is the strongest, a spectacular tidal bore is formed.
