Long lines, guests leaving rooms at Canada’s COVID-19 quarantine hotels

It has been less than a week since tight restrictions were put into place for non-essential travel into Canada.

Travellers who arrive by air are required to quarantine in a designated hotel for three days upon landing. The new rule is part of an effort to reduce non-essential travel and get ahead of the new virus variants.

However, just days after the mandatory order came into effect there are reports of long waits, expensive bills and guests leaving their rooms. Jeff Semple reports on the mounting trouble at Canada’s quarantine hotels.
