As victory in the War of Resistance approached, the future development path for China became a hot topic of discussion between the CPC and the KMT. During this time, Chongqing was chosen as the location for a historical round of negotiations over their grand plans for reconstructing the nation. Mao Zedong arrived in Chongqing on August 28, 1945 with a courageous reputation.
