Mass grave in BC: Tributes and trauma revisited across Canada in the wake of dark discovery
CA, 31 May 2021
Tributes are pouring in, and flags are at half-mast across Canada, in mourning for what is believed to be a mass grave found at an old residential school in British Columbia last week.
The remains of about 215 children were located at the site in Kamloops, B.C. The bleak discovery has reopened old wounds surrounding Canada's residential schools, where Indigenous children were placed after being forcefully taken from their families.
As Ross Lord reports, there are calls to move forward with reconciliation, as a deep pain persists over a dark chapter in Canada's history.
