McCann's family solicitor comments after key prosecution evidence dropped from IRA murder trial
Telegraph, 30 Apr 2021
Niall Murphy solicitor for the family of Joe McCann, an official IRA leader killed in 1972, released comments after the trial for the murder of the IRA commander was about to collapse.
A senior judge was asked to throw out crucial evidence by the barrister of the two paratroopers accused of "unlawfully shooting" Joe McCann in April 1972.
Mr Justice O'Hara expressed his surprise during an application by the soldiers' barristers to throw out key evidence in the Crown’s prosecution which emerged from two interviews the men gave in 1972 and 2010.
