Meet a core group of Sri Lankan activists behind the ‘struggle’ protest on July 9, 2022, when tens of thousands demonstrators stormed the residences of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. As a result of the organising efforts of a priest, a digital strategist and a popular playwright, both Sri Lankan leaders announced their plans to resign. At least 200,000 people joined the July 9 protest, according to police estimates.
