Mexico is experiencing a surge in coronavirus cases driven by the Delta strain - yet US visitor numbers are reportedly higher than pre-pandemic levels.
In the southeastern resort town of Cancun, mostly jabbed Americans are mingling with the mostly unvaccinated locals.
Only about 26 percent of Mexicans have been inoculated against COVID-19 and health officials say hospital beds are fast filling up due to large gatherings.
