Elon Musk, the CEO of electric car maker Tesla Inc., has officially taken over Twitter in a $44 billion deal. Musk, who first agreed to take over the platform in April, says he will bolster "free speech" on Twitter, including pledges to restore the accounts of previously banned users. He has even floated the idea of turning Twitter into a super app, much like the popular Chinese app WeChat. Can Musk's Twitter acquisition really give him the tools to reshape American society?
