Nepal Prime Minister loses vote of confidence amid surging Covid-19 infections

Nepal’s Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli lost a confidence vote in the country’s lower house of parliament on May 10, 2021. Out of the 232 lawmakers attending, 93 voted in favour of Oli with 124 voting against and 15 abstaining. The no-confidence vote further deepened Nepal’s political turmoil amid a deadly second wave of Covid-19.
