Ontario's chief medical officer of health Dr. David Williams and associate chief medical officer of health Dr. Barbara Yaffe provided an update on the province's COVID-19 numbers and vaccine rollout on Monday.
Ontario is expanding COVID-19 vaccine eligibility, opening its provincial booking portal today to hot-spot residents aged 18 and older.
This week and next, the province will send half of its vaccine supply to the hot spots, based on recommendations from the government’s scientific advisers.
Eligibility expands further across Ontario on Thursday, when online bookings open up to residents aged 50 and over. People with high-risk health conditions and some groups of people who can’t work from home will also become eligible.
The province reported 3,723 COVID-19 cases on Sunday, bringing the total number of cases to 470,465. Twenty-three new deaths were also announced on May 2, bringing the provincial death toll to 8,102.
