Dr. Kieran Moore, Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health, is expected to hold a media briefing Friday regarding Step 3 of the province's COVID-19 reopening plan.

The Ontario government is poised to move the province into Step 3 nearly a week earlier than the previously expected date, government sources tell Global News.

While the details were still being finalized Friday morning, the sources said major highlights of the announcement are expected to allow the following sectors to reopen with 50 per cent capacity indoors with potential maximum numbers of people and physical distancing restrictions on or around July 16: gyms, restaurants, museums, boat tours, meeting spaces, music events, zoos and aquariums.
