A former Vietnam veteran has made his way to the White House after walking from North Carolina to the nation's capital.

President Donald Trump greeted Terry Sharpe, known as the "Walking Marine," on the south lawn on Monday.

69-year-old Sharpe completing his three-hundred mile journey from his hometown in North Carolina to Washington, D.C., to raise awareness for veterans' issues including veteran suicide, hunger and homelessness.

Sharpe walked through the finish line to cheers from supporter as Trump looked on.

It's a mission that Sharpe has completed eight times, and this is his final trek to Washington, D.C., though he plans to keep walking.
