CA, 07 Apr 2021
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to hold a COVID-19 briefing on Tuesday and will discuss the ongoing government response to the pandemic.
Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs Dominic LeBlanc, Health Minister Patty Hajdu, Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam, and Deputy Chief Public Health Officer of Canada Dr. Howard Njoo are also expected to be in attendance.
More than two million doses of vaccines are set to arrive in Canada this week as the country scrambles to contain the wildfire spread of more contagious variants of the COVID-19 virus.
That includes the first batch of Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines — 316,800 doses — to be sent to Canada from the global vaccine-sharing initiative known as the COVAX Facility.
Canada’s total number of confirmed infections surpassed one million on Saturday.
