Rain Valdez on her historic Emmy nomination for ‘Razor Tongue’

PBS, 15 Sep 2020
The actor and writer behind the web series “Razor Tongue” received a Primetime Emmy nomination for “Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series.” This made Valdez the first Filipina American trans actress and just the second transgender performer ever to be nominated for an Emmy, after Laverne Cox.

Valdez said the nomination is “huge” for both of her communities.

“I feel like one of us won -- and in a big way,” she said, adding that the nomination helps with visibility of either community on the screen.
