It’s been one year since Iraq's Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi took office.
But the country has been marked in recent decades by conflict, turmoil, and instability.
There was the U.S. invasion in 2003 and the chaos of the transition to a new beginning.
In the years that followed, endemic corruption and sectarian violence.
More recently, civil disobedience, the killing of protesters by security forces, the effects of US-Iran tensions, and the COVID-19 pandemic and the devastation caused to an already fragile economy.
So how promising does the future look for Iraq?
