Republic of Korea (ROK) this week banned activists from sending anti-Pyongyang leaflets across to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). Balloons have long been used to ferry information, entertainment and often criticism of the leadership in the north across the DMZ. But anyone convicted of sending them now could face up to three years in jail or a fine of nearly $30,000.
