Russia backs Belarus after plane diversion to Minsk, Pratasevich detention

The forced landing of a Ryanair plane in Belarus sparked anger in the EU, but Russia said Minsk took a “reasonable” approach. That plane was travelling from Athens, Greece to Vilnius, Lithuania when Belarusian authorities flagged what turned out to be a false bomb alert, forcing the plane to land in Minsk. Once on the ground, authorities arrested opposition activist Roman Protasevich, who was among the passengers. “Not surprising for Russia”, FRANCE 24’s Theo Merz Cragg reports from Moscow.
