One person died in a shooting at the George Floyd memorial in Minneapolis on Saturday, as dozens gathered for a protest ahead of the trial of Derek Chauvin which started on Monday.

Eyewitnesses say two people came out of a store next to the memorial, arguing, before shots rang out.

The site of the shooting is the same intersection where George Floyd was killed last year. Former police officer Chauvin is accused of second-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter, after the world saw footage of him with his knee pressed on Floyd's neck for nine minutes before he died, despite his pleading that he could not breathe.
