The fallout from Australia's broken submarine deal with France may complicate negotiations on an Australian-European Union free trade deal. France was treated in an "unacceptable" way when Australia, Britain and the United States negotiated a defense pact ditching its contract to supply submarines to Canberra, said European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, on September 20th.
