Travellers who fail to have pre-departure tests for Covid before coming to England face fines of £500 as the Government tightened border controls to combat the spread of the virus.
Everyone apart from hauliers arriving at English ports or airports – whether UK or non-UK residents – will be expected to have negative PCR test certificates for Covid taken within 72 hours.
