Taliban claims control of Afghanistan's last holdout province as resistance stands firm
CA, 07 Sep 2021
The Taliban are now claiming victory in the Panjshir Valley - Afghanistan's last holdout province as the terrorist group seizes full control of the country.
Despite the Taliban's current claim, resistance forces opposing the regime and occupying region also say they are still active in the area.
The region already has a long history of resistance - first in the 1980's against the Soviet occupation, then later against the Taliban when it controlled parts of the country up until 2001.
As Crystal Goomansingh reports, a number of Afghans are now just hoping for any stability even if it comes with Taliban rule, after 40 years of conflict.
