'The world became enthralled with your spirit of hope': Captain Tom's family and nation pay tribute

The crowds may not have been be able to line the streets to bid him farewell, but Captain Sir Tom Moore today got the send off he so richly deserves for his contribution to the work of the NHS.

A Second World War-era plane soared over Sir Tom's funeral service as soldiers from the Yorkshire Regiment carried his coffin to the crematorium.

The C-47 Dakota, part of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight which operates from RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire, performed the flypast, recalling the moment last year when Sir Tom punched the air in delight as a Spitfire flew over his home to mark his 100th birthday.
