Ruqia Bakhshi was wounded by one of several bombs that detonated in front of her school in Kabul on May 8, 2021. The attack on the Sayed Al-Shuhada girls’ school in a Shia neighbourhood of the Afghan capital killed at least 85 people and left another 147 injured. The school is a high school for girls and boys, who study in different classroom sessions. The session for female students had just finished when the blast took place.
