Trading app billionaire Nikhil Kamath on his company Zerodha and the retail trading boom

DW, 12 Jan 2022
When Nikhil Kamath left school at 16, it was a bit of a gamble. But today, at 35, he is India's youngest self-made billionaire. The online trading platform he set up with his elder brother ten years ago has become the number one trading place for retail investors in India. Zerodha has grown rapidly in the last couple of years to have 8 million customers. It now handles 15 percent of Indian retail trading volumes. Zerodha's success has tracked a booming stock market, with small-time investors rushing to get a piece of the action. India's Sensex index grew 22% last year.
