Trial of first French jihadi accused of crimes in Syria begins

France has commenced its trial of the former Islamic State group fighter Tyler Vilus for crimes committed in Syria, where he settled in 2013. As FRANCE 24 senior reporter Catherine Norris-Trent explains, the French citizen rose through the ranks to become influential among the foreign jihadi community.
