Prime Minister Justin Trudeau delivered a speech in the House of Commons on Thursday, paying tribute to the late former prime minister John Turner, as Parliament resumed all normal operations for the first time in six months.

Trudeau invited all Canadians to sign a virtual book of condolences for the country's 17th prime minister and spoke about Turner's advocacy for a strong democracy and recognizing the power of young people.

"He believed fiercely in the values that make us who we are as Canadians. Values like treating everyone with dignity and respect, but always being willing to stand up for what is just right." Trudeau said.
