Trump asks reporter to remove mask after scathing Labor day speech
Guardian, 08 Sep 2020
Donald Trump used Labor Day to launch another attack on Joe Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris, whilst praising his own efforts in controlling the Covid-19 pandemic during a surprise press conference from the White House.
Trump also asked a journalist to take off his face mask during the Q&A session saying he could not hear the question. Instead Reuters journalist Jeff Mason repeated the question about the Atlantic magazine’s report that the president had disparaged dead soldiers as 'losers' and 'suckers'.
Trump later praised two other reporters who removed their masks to question the president, including the Guardian's David Smith, who asked Trump about his opposition to the 1619 Project and whether he 'objected to slavery itself being taught in schools?'
