Trump blames "bad forest management" for wildfires burning in multiple U.S. states
CA, 14 Sep 2020
U.S. President Donald Trump said on Saturday during a campaign rally in Nevada that he will be visiting the areas damaged by wildfires in California on Monday, and suggested that the reason behind the wildfires there and elsewhere on the U.S. West Coast was due to poor forest management.
Dozens of extreme wind-driven wildfires burned through forests and towns in U.S. West Coast states on Thursday, destroying hundreds of homes and killing at least eight people, authorities said.
Oregon has borne the brunt of the almost 100 major wildfires ripping across the western states, with around 3,000 firefighters battling nearly three dozen wildfires as of Sunday.
