Trump says U.S. postal chief trying to streamline service, continues push against mail-in voting
CA, 16 Aug 2020
U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday said U.S. Postal Service chief Louis DeJoy, who is facing criticism by both parties over controversial policy changes he's made, is working to streamline the service and "make the post office great again." Trump added he doesn't know what DeJoy is doing but will be a "great postmaster general."
Trump continued his criticisms of mail-in voting, saying the country would have a "catastrophic" situation, and once more claiming that people might not know who won the election "for months or for years."
The president also said, in speaking about negotiations on coronavirus aid with Congressional Democrats, that the party wants money to bail out states and they were not giving money to the post office. Trump said he agreed there should be more resources to help with ballot counting, but claimed Democrats were not approving funding for said resources.
