U.K. marks 75th anniversary of VJ Day

CA, 16 Aug 2020
The U.K. commemorated the 75th anniversary of VJ Day on Saturday, marking the Japanese surrender that ended the Second World War.

Military bagpipers played "Battle's O'er" across the country as part of commemorations, and the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows, flew over Belfast. The flypasts that were to take place over Cardiff, Edinburgh and London were cancelled due to poor visibility and weather conditions.

Previous anniversaries have involved a parade by veterans through central London, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, events were scaled back to adhere to social distancing guidelines and lockdown restrictions.
