UK is one of the world's most nature-depleted countries

The UK's industrial history has destroyed so much of the surrounding nature that new research warns an 'ecological recession' is imminent.
Analysis by the Natural History Museum shows there's only 53 percent of biodiversity left, which is well below the global average and significantly lower than the 90 percent threshold believed to be the safe point to prevent the world from tipping into an "ecological recession".
