US lawmakers give final approval to $1.9tn stimulus plan

The US House of Representatives gave a final green light to the $1.9 trillion stimulus package, which will be signed into law by President Joe Biden on Friday. The rescue package will extend unemployment benefits and include a $1,400 direct payment to many Americans. Gregory Daco, Chief US Economist at Oxford Economics, weighs in on the longer-term impact of the programme, and how it compares to fiscal support in the EU.
