US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has urged China to use its “tremendous influence” on North Korea to convince it to abandon its nuclear programme.
The United States had tried to open a dialogue with North Korea ahead of this trip, but without success.
Blinken and Lloyd Austin, the defence secretary, held a group meeting with their counterparts in Seoul.
The tour is intended to restore and repair relations between the US and its traditional allies in Northeast Asia.
