Former vice president and Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden addressed mourners at George Floyd's funeral via a video recording on Tuesday, saying "now is the time for racial justice."

He also spoke directly to Floyd's 6-year-old daughter Gianna in the video, saying, "You are so brave, daddy's looking down and he's so proud of you."

Biden called for the end of the "systemic abuse that plagues American life," and said that justice for Floyd's death is only the beginning of rectifying that abuse.

Floyd, an unarmed Black man, died in police custody on May 25 after a white police officer in Minneapolis, Minn. kneeled on his neck for nearly nine minutes.
