Vietnam turns Da Nang stadium into field hospital for coronavirus patients

As the city of Da Nang becomes the epicentre of Vietnam’s latest coronavirus outbreak, a local sports complex is being quickly converted into a temporary hospital to treat Covid-19 patients. The Tien Son sports facility is set to open on August 8, 2020, with 1,000 beds available to handle an overflow of infected patients if the city’s regular hospitals become overwhelmed. Officials say if infection numbers stabilise, the facility would be used to isolate people who have had direct contact with any positive cases, as part of Vietnam's centralised quarantine programme.
