WATCH: An 11-year-old American’s appeal for protection for immigrant families | 2020 DNC Night 3
PBS, 20 Aug 2020
An 11-year-old American named Estella whose mother was deported from the U.S. read a letter criticizing President Trump’s immigration record on Aug. 19 during the third night of the Democratic National Convention. “Every day that passes, you deport more moms and dads and take them away from kids like me,” she said. “We need a president who will bring people together, not tear them apart.” The coronavirus pandemic upended both parties’ traditional conventions. Instead of in-person events, the DNC program each night features a number of speakers and musical performances virtually across the country.
