WATCH: Biden says his climate plan would create 'millions of good paying jobs'

PBS, 30 Sep 2020
Former Vice President Joe Biden predicted that if elected president, his climate plan would create "millions of good paying jobs" and make the economy "much safer."

His suggested measures include upgrading buildings, weatherizing homes and building energy efficient homes -- a plan that, debate moderator Chris Wallace noted, some feel would cost a lot of money and hurt the economy.

Biden pointed out that the United States pays billions of dollars in the aftermath of natural disasters like hurricanes and other major storms, which he noted have worsened in recent years as a result of human-driven global warming. Biden added that the U.S. has to "get back into" the Paris Climate Accord, from which President Donald Trump withdrew the United States. The Democratic presidential nominee emphasized that his plan differs from the Green New Deal, referring to progressive climate legislation proposed by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and Sen. Ed Markey in 2019.

Biden and Trump faced off in their first debate on Sept. 29, in front of a crowd that was dramatically scaled back because of COVID-19. Thirty-five days before Election Day, the candidates covered a range of topics from the pandemic and the economy to protests over police violence.
