PBS, 28 Jul 2021
Four members of law enforcement who defended the U.S. Capitol from violent insurrectionists on Jan. 6 spoke at a select committee hearing on July 27.
Capitol Police Sgts. Aquilino Gonell and Harry Dunn, and Metropolitan Police Officers Daniel Hodges and Officer Michael Fanone, testified about the violence and fear they experienced that day, as well as how the attack has continued to affect them.

It was the first hearing of a House investigation led by nine U.S. representatives, includes seven Democrats and two Republicans, all appointed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Republicans, who have been wary of crossing former President Donald Trump, have criticized the process. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy recently withdrew the names of five GOP appointees after Pelosi rejected the participation of two of them.
