Telegraph, 21 Jun 2020
Neil Basu reiterated that the incident yesterday was not connected "in any way" with the Black Lives Matter protest that took place earlier in the day in the same park.
He said counter terror police would be working "around the clock", and thanked 41 witnesses who had come forward to assist police with their enquiries.
"There is no specific intelligence to suggest that anyone attending crowded places is at risk," he said.
"I would ask members of the public: please continue with your daily lives, but be alert, not alarmed, when you are out in public."
Mr Basu asked the public to "remain vigilant".
Neil Basu described the attack in Reading yesterday as an "atrocity" and said police were working with the coroner to formally identify those who died.
He praised Thames Valley police and members of the public who provided emergency first aid at the scene.
"This was declared a terrorist incident at 0830, as a result of investigations through the night," he said.
The man arrested yesterday remains in custody, he said.
