The Queen has opened the new parliamentary session this morning. The state opening marks a rare convergence of the House of Lords, the House of Commons, and the monarch.

The Government has pledged to bring forward proposals to reform adult social care this year, amid growing pressure for Boris Johnson to act on his pledge from 2019.

As part of the State Opening of Parliament, the Queen confirmed that: "proposals on social care reform will be brought forward".

It comes as came after senior Tories attacked the Government for its inaction on social care reform, despite the Prime Minister promising he had a plan ready to enact when he took office in December 2019.
