WATCH: Michelle Obama says Democrats must 'reassert our place in American history’
PBS, 18 Aug 2020
Former first lady Michelle Obama addressed Democrats on Aug. 17 during the first night of the Democratic National Convention, calling on the leaders of the country to reflect on the truth of the American people. “When the horrors of systemic racism shook our country and our consciences, millions of Americans … rose up to march for each other,” she said. “This is who we still are: compassionate, resilient, decent people.” The coronavirus pandemic upended both parties’ traditional conventions. Instead of in-person events, the program each night features a number of speakers and musical performances virtually across the country.
