Former first lady Michelle Obama made a plea to the American public to stand "fierce against hatred" during the first night of the 2020 Democratic National Convention on Aug. 17. "When we go low, when we use those same tactics of degrading and dehumanizing others, we just become part of the ugly noise that's drowning out everything else," Obama said referencing a viral line from her 2016 DNC speech -- "when they go low, we go high."
She called on voters to avoid matching Trump's rhetoric and to instead take "the harder path."
